And the winners are….

This year’s Logistics Achiever Awards marks the 22nd year of recognising and rewarding logistics and supply chain excellence in South Africa. That the entries have once again proven to be of exceptionally high quality highlights the sustainability of the awards initiative to encourage local supply chain executives to meet world-class standards.

Introducing the awards ceremony, Barry Saxton, chairman of the judges panel, said, “One of the privileges of being a member of the panel of LAA judges is that we see and witness first-hand the evolution and strides made each year in the field of logistics and supply chain management. In 22 years of LAA we have witnessed remarkable changes in our industry as it matures, evidenced by a growing understanding and acceptance of the role and huge importance that logistics and supply chain management plays in the economics of SA and in the well-being of our industries, businesses, as well in the daily lives of our people.”

Stealing the show were Platinum award winners Nike SA / Barloworld Logistics and UTi Pharma. Gold Awards were earned by Sappi Fine Paper / Goldfields Logistics; De Beers Kimberley Mines / Setjhaba Carriers; Bagshaw Footwear / Cargo Carriers; The Foschini Group and Clicks Group Ltd.

Enviro Awards were presented to Pick ‘n Pay / Unitrans; Barloworld Logistics and Standard Bank of South Africa. Details of the entries as well as the Silver and Bronze award winners will be offered in the upcoming October issue of Logistics News.
