Exorbitant Toll Road Fees on the Cards – The Road Freight Association Needs Your Input!

The SA National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) plans to toll truckers at a rate of R3-50 per km on its toll roads. This exorbitant charge will have a huge cost impact - both on the trucking industry and every consumer in the country, leading to higher inflation and increased costs of goods and products.

Over 40 tolls are planned across all of Gauteng's freeways from April 2011. From Soweto to Sandton, West Rand to East, and Johannesburg to Pretoria, tolls will be situated on average every 10km. The Road Freight Association is actively campaigning against these excessive rates. To do this, the RFA need your inputs on how these fees will impact on your business.

To assist the RFA in gathering information, please consider supplying the following information about your business:
1. Estimated number of trips per day?
2. Estimated monthly cost as a result of the proposed toll fees.
3. Total increased cost in Rands and as a percentage to your business (per annum)

We also urge you to send us your views and opinions on SANRAL’s proposed fees. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to Take Action, Make Your Voice Heard, and Make a Difference! Please e-mail your comments to Gavin Kelly by Friday 14 May. Gavin’s e-mail address is gkelly@rfa.co.za
